Okay, so I've decided that even though I love photography and everything about it, that having a site dedicated to it and my art is just not realistic. Unless you are an exceptional photographer nobody really wants to come to a site like that except other photographers that either want to promote their own site by praising yours or want to bash your photos to make themselves feel better. So I've decided to do something I have wanted to do for a long time, and that is to start a blog. But, I could never really decide what the focus would be. I have so many interests, and then I realized FriedFocus really spoke about me and all my interests - not just my photography. I love history, music, photography, the outdoors, and my new hobby of diving (more on that latter). All these interests are connected in way, at least I see that way. Anyway just rambling here ... so either continue to read or not, I don't care. Just here to blog and maybe pass some shit along - don't know.
So diving ... something I have wanted to do since I was a kid. I can remember watching Jacques Cousteau on TV and thinking that is what I want to do. Obviously, not what I ended up doing. Do most people do what they dream of doing as doing as kids? I'm certainly not going to become a marine biologist and sail to distant oceans but diving is it and I guess that is one thing I can check off my "bucket list", if such a thing exists. "D" tried it a few years ago and really wanted to become certified so when the opportunity came up for both of us to take the open water course we jumped at it. I'll let you know how it goes.
Here is the LDS (local dive shop) that we will be using for our certification and here is a helpful forum I found and here is a great blog by John Chatterton.
Some of my recent reading:
- 1491: New Revelations of the Americas Before Columbus - a great read for any body interested in history. It may change the way the think of the land we live in.
- Shadow Divers - a great read
Okay so thought I would end with a photo
